Effective January 1, 2020, Allegiant Rx (a division of Allegiant Care) will be partnering with OptumRx for your home delivery and specialty prescription drugs. Express Scripts will no longer be your home delivery provider after December 31, 2019.
Watch for an announcement postcard from OptumRx in early November. In mid-December, you will receive a welcome letter, new prescription ID cards and instructions for ordering your home delivery prescriptions through OptumRx. Begin presenting your new OptumRx card to your retail pharmacies after December 31, 2019.
If you currently use the home delivery option through Express Scripts, and you have refills remaining at the end of the year, you do not need to submit a new prescription. Your prescription details will be automatically transferred to OptumRx. Be sure to refill any prescriptions that are low in December through Express Scripts so you do not run out of medication.
If you take any specialty medications, OptumRx Specialty Pharmacy will be your new specialty pharmacy as of 1/1/2020. A representative from OptumRx Specialty will be reaching out to you via email or phone call prior to the transition.
Your plan uses a preferred formulary which is subject to minor changes two times per year (January 1 and July 1). When there are similar drugs available for the same condition, one or more of the options may be removed from the preferred formulary. If one of your medications is scheduled to be removed in January, you will be notified by mail in late November by OptumRx. Therapeutically equivalent alternatives will be provided for any drugs that are not covered under the preferred formulary. You should discuss the alternatives with your physician before switching.
